Quotes From Collaborators And Speakers.
Montreal is a city of immigrants who had to hustle to make a living - including my own grandparents - so entrepreneurship is in the city's DNA. The streets are packed with small businesses and independent eateries. We have a disproportionate number of artists, musicians and chefs across the city. I don't think there's any city in the world that's more creative and entrepreneurial than Montreal.
Harley Finkelstein (President, Shopify)
As a founder in Montreal, I’ve seen firsthand how this city shapes entrepreneurs who are resourceful by necessity and bold by design. The next generation isn’t waiting for opportunity, they’re creating it right here.
Andrew Lockhead (Co-Founder and CEO, Stay22)
After more than 20 years in Montreal’s tech ecosystem, I’m still amazed by the energy and audacity of the people here. In a world full of uncertainty, Montreal stands out as a city that builds : not just talks. Events like OHMTL remind us that our ecosystem’s true strength lies in its people, bold enough to dream, and brave enough to build
Dominic Gagnon (Co-Founder and CEO, Connect&Go)
Montreal is a rare intersection of science, technology, and art, a blend that gives rise to bold, unconventional ideas with global impact. OHMTL opens the doors to that innovation. We loved welcoming visitors in past editions to offer a glimpse into how wildly ambitious, internationally pioneering companies can be built right here. This day and the startups opening their doors spark curiosity, inspire others to dare, and strengthen the connections that make this ecosystem so special
Marina Pavlovic Rivas (Co-Founder and CEO, Eli Health)
Montreal’s heartbeat comes from people who started with nothing and built everything you see around. I’m lucky to be one of them. This city gives you the chance to grow if you’re willing to show up, that’s the real secret to success here. Just show up, and Montreal will meet you halfway. The doors are open, starting by OHMTL.
Mehdi Merai (Co-Founder and CEO, Jetscale AI)
Open House Montreal - Tech Week of Builders’ event creates a space for exchange between experienced investors and ambitious young startups. By organizing these exchanges in a roundtable format over breakfast, Croissants & Capital, we aim to spark creative collisions and foster fruitful connections.Sylvain Carle (Associé directeur, Métanoïa Capital)
It does help to be in Quebec and Canada. My parents couldn't work (they were very old at the time) and were getting government social security money and I was able to just really surf on that just barely. I worked inside a subsidized government home for the most part of stay22. The game can be much easier if you can afford the time to spend on entrepreneurship distraction free. Montreal is a student town too, there's a lot of free office space, I wasn't even a student at Concordia but they let us in at District3 space (of course a little hustle from your side was required ilias)
Hamed Al-Khabbaz (Co-Founder and CTO, Stay22)

Unleashing Grassroots & Builders Power
A city-wide movement led by builders on the ground, reclaiming the future of innovation and shaping it together.
The Force Behind OHMTL
ElanTech, Quebec’s longest running grassroots tech community organization, is proud to spearhead Open House Montréal, Tech Week of Builders - OHMTL.
Rooted in the spirit of community and openness, OHMTL is an extension of homegrown initiatives such as Startup Open House, Montreal AI Week, and ElanTech’s own monthly AI Build Days. While ElanTech leads the coordination, the initiative is co-developed with a diverse committee of grassroots partners including Women Techmakers, Product Montréal, and Station FinTech Montréal, each contributing to the city’s collective innovation fabric.
OHMTL Week was created to open doors, foster meaningful connections, and invite the public into the spaces where ideas become reality.
This is more than an event. It is a civic invitation to explore, collaborate, and shape what’s next, together.
ElanTech is the new name for an old friend you might know as Montréal NewTech.

Unleashing Grassroots & Builders Power
A city-wide movement led by builders on the ground, reclaiming the future of innovation and shaping it together.
